For the 5th year in a row, Gehan Homes pledged to donate $250 for every home sold during the month of October, to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Today we were honored to present a check to them in the amount of $27,750. This brings our total donation amount to $122,000 toward a cure for breast cancer!
Thank you to all of our customers and employees who made this possible. A cure for breast cancer is something we all strive for. Did you know that one in eight women in the U.S. will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime? Every minute, somewhere in the world, someone dies from breast cancer.
In 1980, the 5-year relative survival rate for women diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer was about 74 percent. Today, that number is 99 percent! This progress was made in large part through awareness and fundraising efforts by the Komen organization and continued support of companies, such as Gehan Homes and individuals, as our employees.
Together we can reach the Komen vision of a world without breast cancer.
