Brightland Homes believes in the power of community, especially in times of need. As Hurricanes Helene and Milton continue to leave trails of destruction across Florida, Georgia, and the Carolinas, we are heartbroken by the devastation that has impacted so many. Thousands of families have lost their homes, livelihoods, and, tragically, some have even lost loved ones. In these moments of uncertainty and hardship, it’s our responsibility to step up and offer support.
To help those affected by these catastrophic storms, Brightland Homes is proud to announce a donation of $25,000 to the American Red Cross. This contribution will directly support relief efforts for the millions of people whose lives have been upended by these catastrophic events. With widespread flooding, significant property damage, and power outages affecting millions across multiple states, the need for relief is immense.
The American Red Cross is on the ground providing vital aid to those in crisis. In response to both hurricanes, four major disaster relief operations have been established across the impacted areas to focus on search and rescue, providing shelters, and delivering lifesaving supplies like food and water. Over 1,900 disaster workers have been deployed to the front lines. More than 9,400 evacuees have found safety in Red Cross shelters as a result of the back-to-back storms. In addition to providing emergency shelter, the Red Cross has distributed over 2.3 million meals and snacks, and more are on the way as emergency vehicles make their way through flood-damaged roads to deliver supplies. These efforts are making a difference, but the scale of the devastation from both Hurricanes Helene and Milton means there is still much more work to be done.
The Southeast has been dealt a heavy blow, first by Hurricane Helene, and then by the devastating impact of Hurricane Milton just weeks later. As communities were beginning to recover from Helene’s destruction, Milton struck, leaving families in Florida and across the region facing the daunting challenge of rebuilding after two major storms. Evacuating twice in such a short period has compounded the emotional and physical toll on these communities, leaving many grappling with an uncertain future.
But even in these trying times, there is hope. The American Red Cross is working around the clock to provide relief, comfort, and support to those affected. Through the generosity of donors, like Brightland Homes, and volunteers, critical resources are reaching those in need. The Red Cross has been instrumental in offering shelter, distributing food and water, and ensuring that families receive the care they need as they begin the long road to recovery.
At Brightland Homes, we recognize the importance of acting quickly in times of disaster. Our donation to the American Red Cross is just one way we hope to inspire others to join in this effort. The communities impacted need our collective strength now more than ever. We encourage everyone to contribute in any way they can, whether through a monetary donation, volunteering, or simply spreading the word about the urgent need for help. You can assist by making a financial donation, an appointment to give blood or platelets, or signing up to become a volunteer by visiting redcross.org. You can text the word HURRICANES to 90999 to make a donation.
The road to recovery will be long, but with the support of compassionate people and organizations across the country, we know it is possible. Together, we can offer hope, relief, and the strength to rebuild after the devastating impacts of catastrophic weather events. Our thoughts are with all those affected, and we will continue to stand by the Red Cross as they carry out their critical work.
